Q: Are there an age limit to take part of the workshops?
A: Most of the workshops are limited to those aged 18 and over, due to very long and intense days. We are looking into options for lighter and easier workshops for children and youths, but at the moment we recommend 18y +!
Q: Do I need prior knowledge in SFX/Mask Making to take part of your workshops?
A: No prior knowledge is needed, our workshops are for beginners to advanced. Ideally though to get the most out of our workshops it is great to have an interest or practice some kind of art, whether it is design, sculpting, SFX, mask making, prop-making etc... to put it straight, it helps to have a creative side.
Q: How much are your products/workshops in Dollars, British Pounds etc?
A: Our currency is SEK (Swedish Kronor). Sometimes we will list the cost of the product/workshop in Euros as well. To get an idea of what you are spending in US Dollars or British Pounds visit the currency convertor xe.com for the most up to date exchange rates. The conversion is quick, easy and free!

Q: Can I bring the stone mold home with me?
A: Yes, this is yours to keep. Your design, your mold. Great if you travel by car then it is no problem. If you don't travel by car the mold weighs a lot and there is a cost involved in shipping the mold to your location. We can quote a shipment with DHL/SCHENKER of your mold for you but you will pay for the shipping of the mold.
Q: Does the workshop fee include food and accommodation?
A: No. You will have to bring/make your own lunch during the workshop. We can drive you the nearest shop/take away food place. We supply free "Swedish fika" during the workshop, ie coffee, tea, fruits, cakes, sweets etc. Accommodation is not part of the workshop fee either, but we can assist you with tips on accommodation near the workshop.
Q: Is it possible to set up a payment plan?
A: Yes, we offer the possibility to set up a payment plan where you can pay the course fee in three monthly instalments. If you need a more flexible plan then you can contact us to discuss this.
Q: Why is there a deposit fee and why is it non refundable?
A: The deposit fee secures your place at the workshop and is part of the total course fee to be paid. So it is a part payment in advance so to speak.
The deposit is refundable if you cancel up to 4 weeks prior to the course start date. Any later than that and it is non refundable. This is due to the fact that we need to purchase a lot of expensive equipment and materials in good time before the workshops start.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We try to be as flexible as possible with regards to refunds, but there is a a lot of preparation and expensive material and equipment to be ordered and purchased in advance for each workshop.
If you cancel up to 4 weeks prior to the course start date you will receive a full refund of your deposit fee. Any later than that and your deposit fee is non refundable.
The rest of the balance of the workshop is to be paid 1 week prior to the start of the workshop and once paid the course fee is non refundable if you cancel. However we are happy to book you on to another course date, so that you don't lose your money.
Helsinglight SFX Makeup Academy will not be responsible for any costs incurred by a participant who is unable to receive a refund on accommodation and travel.
Our teachers at Helsinglight SFX Makeup Academy are all working professionals and it may happen that we sometimes need to change teachers on a workshop. Also if one of our teachers get sick we will also need to call in another teacher. The new teacher will always be of the same level as the original one and therefore we cannot make any refunds based on this change.
Q: What equipment do I need to bring to a workshop?
A: Prior to the course start date we will send out a list of recommended equipment tho bring with you or the possibility to pre-order and buy tools/equipment the from us. It is great to have your own equipment to work with since you will most likely need these items in the future and it is good to work and practise with your own tools/equipment.
If you don't have any equipment/tools of your own, you can pre-order from us or buy tool-kits at our workshop. You can also borrow some of our spare tools.
