Description
The tenth volume of the hit series The Walking Dead - the model for the TV series of the same name. Author Robert Kirkman continues to take his zombie epic to new levels.
Foreword by Jenny Jägerfeld
If you are repeatedly exposed to new traumas, you cannot psychologically afford to process your previous losses. The past may therefore be "frozen" temporarily. One is simply busy dealing with the present and therefore pushes aside any stressful feelings of sadness and loss. This is called emotional distancing and is a coping strategy used in the concentration camps during World War II. If you felt it, you felt worse and therefore you let it go.
It is not only the coping strategies of the characters in The Walking Dead that are interesting. It is also the coping strategies with us that read. We are obviously fascinated by stories of zombie apocalypses. But why? Is it perhaps a way of dealing with our own fear of impending disaster? To sharpen our coping skills? Even if we are not afraid of zombies, maybe of environmental disasters, terrorist attacks, or war
- Jenny Jägerfeld
Reviews
"Letting the main characters of the story constantly be thrown between hope and despair is a successful style. It completely draws the reader into the story and you are never sure how it will turn out."
