I am sometimes asked how I define the word culture. I usually answer that culture is all that which we do not need to survive as biological beings, but which is absolutely indispensable for us to endure as human beings. In that sense, it is culture that gives us our humanity. Rarely has this been portrayed more clearly than in The Walking Dead . Friendship, love or just something as basic as physical proximity becomes what stands between us and the abyss."
